Carol and Jacko

"This is our 4th year of participating in the Great Brisbane Duck Race. We originally got behind this great cause 4 years ago when my husband and our team hero, Jacko, was undergoing chemotherapy at the PA Hospital for Lymphoma. We are one of the lucky ones, as Jacko has now been in remission for 2 years and 8 months and is still going strong.

When Jacko first started his treatments we found out about the Duck Race and immediately knew we had to get behind this event, not only because the money raised would go back to funding the very treatments that Jacko was receiving and possibly one that would cure his cancer, but we also felt it was a calling for us to do this as Jacko's nickname from my Dad is "The Duck".

To show our eternal gratitude and appreciation for the supportive and wonderful staff at the PA we throw ourselves into this fun event each year.

My hope is that one day soon there'll be a cure for all cancers.

On behalf of Jacko, who has been in remission for 2 years and 8 months now, for Scott who sadly lost his fight in March this year and for John, who is currently battling this horrible disease, I ask you to dig deep and generously donate to help cure cancer. My loved ones have suffered enough from cancer and I wish for nothing more than to spare anybody else I love from suffering."
